Hi there folks,
Typing away with cold fingers--last night was our first frost! While the marks the beginning of the end for the tomatoes, it means added flavor and sweetness for some of our fall/winter crops. This week you'll see some of those items making their way back. We'll have some baby leeks and some chicories making their way into our boxes this week. Depending on your pick up spot, you'll either be working with some dandelion greens or radicchio this week. Both are known for being bitter greens, and depending on your taste, a little will go a long way. I like adding these for extra color and snap into soups, stews, and shredded salads.
Pictured is our extreme make over tunnel edition. We pulled all the heirlooms in the tunnels this week, and have replaced them with kale, choi, radishes, and fava beans. You won't see those this year, but we'll be bringing those items into the last couple of winter share boxes and early summer boxes next year. Speaking on winter boxes, I'll be emailing you all shortly with the info for those boxes--our distribution will be shorter, and for now I'm only going to open them to current CSA members.
Stay warm out there and enjoy the fall sun!
