Hi CSA Folks,
Another day in the high 70s? Well OK. Easily the latest we've been able to offer sweet peppers and tomatoes in memory--hope you all can savor the summer that's still coming in. On the farm this week, we have been doing what I hope is the final hand weed of our fall/winter carrots. Carrots can be a pain. They take up to 3 weeks to germinate and often require at least one hand weeding because they are so small when they come up. The plus side of this mild weather has been a deeper season for a lot of crops, but the down sides are that it is still a very very full harvest for us, and the weeds are also enjoying the warmer weather. This time last year we were getting ready for a frost.
Enough about the weather--your box has what may be the last tomatoes, and sweet peppers of the year. Enjoy!
