We had our first frost on Friday. To get ready for this, we harvested all of the warm season crops including peppers and eggplant. The fall/winter crops actually benefit from a frost and become sweeter in flavor! We also drained our irrigation lines and pumps. This week we are removing tomato stakes to be reused next season. If we find the time, the long project of taking down the high tunnel will begin. This is a daunting task, but needs to be completed before the ground freezes for early tomatoes next year.
Thank you to everybody who is continuing with us during the extended season! We are excited to offer you local food during the cold months and to continue your CSA adventure with us.
Farm extra shares will be getting honeycrisp apple sauce.
