Hope you had a great Thanksgiving this year! With Covid, we cancelled our orginal plans and had Thanksgiving with just our family of four for the first time. It was actually very nice to have a 'slower-paced' day than we are used to having during holidays, but did miss seeing family. There is a lot to be thankful for this year, including having meals of mostly all local, healthy food. Our dinner was rather traditional with a Turkey, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy, brussel sprouts, cranberry sauce, and pumpkin pie. Everything was made from scratch and was definetly worth the effort!
We are almost finished disassembling the high tunnel to move to the new farm. The plan is to get it reassembled next week and prepared for our early planting of tomatoes in April. I am going to make some improvements on it this time around, including larger end-wall panels to allow more air circulation. It is a very tedious project, but fortunately we have the hours to spend on it this time of year. And having fresh, ripe tomatoes in June gives us something to work towards!
Members with Farm-Extra Shares will be getting two dozen eggs. Please remember to retrieve them from the cooler if you have a farm extras share (it will also be highlighted on your label).
I know everybody is excited for more salad greens and spinach. We plan to have them on the menu again next week. The freshly harvested crops grow very slowly this time of year with less sunlight and colder temperatures, but the flavor is worth the wait!
Be Healthy. Be Happy.
