With the heat we are officially transitioning from Spring to Summer! This time of year is always a little awkward for growers as the spring crops finish out and there is typically a lull before the summer crops are really producing.
This year we will have summer squash and zucchini and cucumbers coming on soon from the field, as well as the first trickle of tomatoes from our high tunnel. Our peppers and eggplant are only planted in the field, and with the cool spring they are slow growing so far. Usually we don’t begin to see those fruits until the end of July or early August anyway!
We hope to continue to eek out hearty greens and salad and lettuce as possible over the next month as well as the first new potatoes and beets and carrots.
We hope you will try to embrace this seasonal shift of produce, and maybe have a better understanding as to why your shares look the way they do!
