Hey Farm Family!
Hope you're all having a nice week so far. We're grateful for some sunshine on the farm this week. Last weeks rains were good for the plants but getting to be too much. Most things seem to have pulled through but there are some plants showing evidence of stress related for waterlogged root zones. Probably the most sensitive crops to too much moisture are tomatoes, or plants in the nightshade family in general. These plants are vulnerable to soil born fungal diseases that can attack the foliage and the fruit of the plants. When theyre sitting in sopping wet soils for days on end, and then every couple days a hard rain comes and splashes soil up onto the undersides of the leaves, these fungal diseases run wild and take out the field in fairly short order. I think we still have a couple good weeks of tomatoes to look forward to but we're definitely looking at the end of peak season for that crop, so eat em up while you can! Ok that's all for now. Be well!
