Trumpeter Swan Farm CSA News - Summer, Week 11, Aug 9

---- Pop Up Storms ----

Seemed like everything was settling down Sunday after some early and mid-day rain. Then suddenly about 11pm, storms just popped up around us with reports of golf ball size hail. Always an ominous feeling for farmers, knowing that a quick hail storm can turn a season around 180 degrees. In the end, just wind and rain. But morning storm reports on the weather service site shows it was close, with reports of hail 3 miles away. So busy picking this morning, and counting our blessings!

---- Halfway Done ----

We finished up week 10 (of 20) last week, so we are halfway done with the Summer Season. Feel free to review your Preferences on your "harvie.farm" account. Try to have just 5 to 10 "love it" items, so that if those are available, you will definitely get them. Set the rest to "like it" or "sometimes". For eggs, just pick one level as "love it" or "like it", and set the rest as "not for me". When you get your "time to customize" email, review the selections that "Harvie" made for you, and then swap items in and out to fine tune your box.

---- Sweet Corn ----

First crop of sweet corn came out very nice. Timely rains two weeks ago helped it finish nicely. Plenty for this week again, so swap in as much as you want. We planted 7 times, so if the weather cooperates, we can have corn available through September.
