Farm Happenings for December 7, 2019

Posted on December 1st, 2019 by Jack Manix

Welcome to the first week of the Walker Farm Winter CSA! Tomorrow, all you'll be able to see outside is white on everything but step into one of our winter CSA greenhouses and it's a whole different world. We have orange and red carrots with green tops in one house, curly fresh kale in 2 houses, Swiss chard, cilantro, lettuce, scallions, celery, bok choi, arugula and even more greens in 9 others. Plus, carrots, Gilfeather turnips, potatoes, beets, onions, cabbage, sweet potatoes and more in 3 storage areas. Coming off of one of our best growing years ever, this years offerings should keep everyone happy and healthy.

Saturday, December 7 between noon and 3 PM is the scheduled time to stop by the farmstand on Route 5 to pickup your share. When you enter the store you will be given a personalized menu based on your preferences in relation to what vegetables have been selected for week one. If you chose the bread option it will be ready on a table and if you chose a specialty item, Walker Farm organic tomatoes this week, they will be ready on another table. If you need any assistance, the crew will be there to check you in and help.

If you are unable to make your Saturday pick-up between 11 am and 3 pm, please call 254-2051 and let us know. Ideally, rescheduled pick-ups will be around noon on Sunday or Monday. There will also be apples and other extras available for purchase. We hope to make this our best winter CSA ever so see you next Saturday!
