Farm Happenings for June 2, 2020

Posted on May 29th, 2020 by John Zilnicki

June is here!  May was a weird month to say the least.  I want to thank the members who signed up for egg shares.  We are not exactly sure what happened there with the system but Harvie support has helped a lot to fix the issues.  Sorry for the confusions!  As we expand, we are working on courier services to help get our vegetables into more of our community members hands.  I expect it to take a few weeks to iron out the systems we are putting in place and I thank you for your patience and understanding.  Also, if you haven't done so please play around with the Harvie login interface.  They have a great FAQ (Harvie University) section that answers a lot of questions that I have been asked.  Don't forget to set your vegetable preferences so the algorithm makes the best box for you.

Farm Happenings this week:

-The cold weather and late frosts made us make the decision to terminate our first sweet corn plantings.  Very sad, but necessary.  However, the most recent plantings are up and looking fabulous now!

-Cabbages, kales, collard greens, and more lettuce were planted this week in the field.

-Will be transplanting cucumbers and tomatoes into our greenhouses! We can't wait for a juicy, fresh picked tomato!

Enjoy the goodies and keep sharing!  We love the before and afters!

P.S.- As small businesses in our communities start to open back up, or try to survive; please reach out to us if you or someone you know is in a tough situation.  We would love to support them anyway possible, and spread the word of their re-openings.  These are unprecedented times, and the strength our communities will be the glue that holds us together!
