Farm Happenings for June 16, 2020

Posted on June 13th, 2020 by John Zilnicki

We are halfway through June! Irrigation of the crops is in full swing!  I want to apologize about the lack of labels this past week.  I ordered the wrong shipping labels from Uline and they weren't compatible with my printer. To the members who are returning their boxes or putting their contents in bags at the stand, I thank you as we work to cut down on our waste.  Also, if you have't done so please set up your preferences.  This enables the Harvie system to make the best box for you.  Make sure you read emails in entirety, the 'SWAP' button and recipes are at the end of the emails, and I don't want you missing out on the amazing recipes!!

Farm Happenings This Week:

-Busy would be an understatement.

-All plants are taking off now, loving this weather!

-Rumor has it we have 2 coyotes in the neighborhood and they are targeting chicken coops.  We are beefing up security on our girls and if you have chickens at home you should do the same!

PSA- How yummy were those strawberries!?  Natures candy!  Long Island Strawberries are insane!  However, they are best eaten ASAP.  The Driscoles and Doles of the world have genetically engineered berries that are picked not ripe and are designed to handle thousands of miles of transportation and still look good.  I've personally driven by their fields and operations in California and it is insane (my honeymoon location choice, wife might not have been impressed but she was a trooper!).

Absolutely gorgeous weather out there and not to late to plant some flowers and veggies!  If you have any questions regarding planting please feel free to reach out!

Enjoy the weekend and thank you for your support!
