Hello farm family! I hope you checked out our emails from earlier today about the amazing lettuce you will be getting this week, as well as returning the ice packs, boxes, and liners. To the members that have been returning, thank you!
This weeks Hydroponic Lettuce is absolutely delicious! It is grown in shallow water in a greenhouse right here in Riverhead. The lettuce is harvested with the roots attached and this is key for long shelf life for you. The proper way to keep the lettuce is in a plastic bag with a little water in the bottom of the bag or place the lettuce in a Tupperware with a little water so the roots don't dry out. The longer the roots stay moist the longer the shelf life.
MORE EXCITING NEWS: We will be offering the freshest most local seafood possible, starting in February. We will be partnering up with North Fork Seafood who will be helping us bring seafood to you. They have the same beliefs of growing a strong local food economy and supporting local businesses and we are extremely excited for February.
