Happy middle of May! Its a very busy time of year on the farm as we are busy planting and preparing grounds for future production. This week we finished planting all our onions (yellows, whites, and reds), as well as some leeks. This is one crop that looks good in the beginning of the season but weeds can take them over in a hurry! We planted field kale, swiss chard, and tuscan kale as well. We will be planting our first round of tomatoes this week and we are excited about that! We pull the plants out of the greenhouses and let them get acclimated to the real world for a week or so, otherwise they would go into shock and that's no bueno.
I hope you get out and enjoy this absolutely gorgeous weather we have! Yes the pollen may be high but it is worth it!
Your Farmer,
John
