Can you believe it is the weekend before Thanksgiving? I sure can not! I feel like it was yesterday we were turning on irrigation for the first time in June. Time fly's that's for sure! There are 3 more weeks of the CSA main season and we will be continuing into December with a week or 2 off around the new year.
Thanksgiving is this coming week as I'm sure you know and its time to make sure you have the menu picked out and we have plenty of goods for you so plan ahead and order up. We will finally be having some freezes at night so this may affect some of the greens in the field, but we will play it by ear.
I just heard lettuce in Hunts Point wholesale terminal market hit over $110 a case!!!! That is 5-6X what it normally is! Absolutely bonkers, and I hope its not a sign of what's to come this winter. I suspect it is related to the Florida hurricane and fuel costs, nevertheless it is still crazy.
