Well the humidity finally broke and we are thankful for that! The lingering high humidity was making potato harvest extremely hard, as we could only do a little at a time and put 5 fans on the potatoes to dry them and reduce their core temperatures. If we didn't reduce their core temp, they would begin breaking down very fast. Also, we are thankful hurricane Lee stayed out to sea, as we defiantly didn't need that. We are over due for a direct hit, but for now, lets keep them away!
Exciting week coming up for us at Zilnicki Farms. We are getting ready for our end of summer Barn Party this coming Wednesday night from 6-9PM. Many people locked spots down fast and it sold out fast. BUT, a few people had to back out and a few spots opened up for the party. Please email me at john.zilnicki@gmail.com if you want to come and weren't able to secure a spot before. You will be treated to a delicious dinner catered by a local Chef, using all kinds of ingredients you see in your CSA boxes. Their will also be a Chinese auction, activities for kids, and plenty of refreshments. Its a night to celebrate you and another Zilnicki Farms CSA season. Have a great weekend and enjoy this cooler weather.
Your farmer,
John
