Farm Happenings for December 12, 2023

Posted on December 8th, 2023 by John Zilnicki

We are back after one week off.  We didn't actually take a week off, we are still busy working on the farm, we just took a 1 week pause on the CSA for some back end computer set up.

I love the winter CSA for a few major reasons:

  • Easy access to Local produce and goods.
  • Knowing where your food comes from.
  • Trying new products from local producers.
  • Keeping my family healthy
  • Supporting other small businesses that desperately need the business during the quiet months of winter.
  • Eating nutrient dense foods for optimal immune system strength

We will keep finding new products to offer you throughout the winter.  As we go into the winter the average distance your produce travels in the local supermarket increases to 1500 miles! Yup, you read that correctly, its actually astonishing.  The more distance the produce travels the more hands that touch it, the more chances it is genetically modified, or grown in a country with minimal pesticide regulations, and it is lacking a true nutritional value compared to its counterparts grown locally.  This is why we do what we do and why its extra important to know what we are putting in our bodies as the cold season approaches!

Have a great weekend!

Your farmer,

John
