June is here and it feels like summer! We've been getting some timely rains on the farm, but it is now time for sunny weather. The potatoes thrive in these growing conditions and most of the fields look great. We have been busy cutting hay and straw, and even though the rain messes up the process, it just takes a few days longer and we get the job done.
Strawberries are in finally! It is a little late this year as the cool weather has delayed most crops by a week or so. Just a reminder, local berries are absolutely the best and packed with unbelievable flavor. They do not have the shelf life of the driscoll strawberries we get in the store. Those store berries are genetically made to handle many days in transit, be visually beautiful, but lack in vitamins/nutrients and flavor.
Have a great weekend,
Your farmer
John
P.S. keep returning those boxes, liners, and ice packs!!
