We raise pigs for meat - outside, no hormones, antibiotics or steroids. Our animals are fed a wholesome diet of farm veggies, grain and occasional local bakery scraps. Our pigs are ethically treated, happy and healthy. Thank you pigs for feeding us, and thank YOU for supporting our efforts.
CSA WEEK 17 NOTES...
Broccoli recovered from heavy rain damage; I'm really happy with this week's harvest. Winter squash abundant! Choose butternut, buttercup, pie pumpkin (yes, REAL pumpkin pie pumpkins!). Sweet potatoes, highest yield ever for us! WE are swimming in them! (AND yellow sweets next week). Green beans super tender, haricot vert quality. Spinach is struggling from wet weather, we are waiting to see if it out grows the disease pressure. Otherwise, we have more coming in behind it. This week, choose Kale or Arugula. Greens in general had a tough time getting through the early stages with heat and rain issues. Lettuce mix gorgeous (and look for heads soon).
POT PIES AND MORE
Need to clear the freezers to make room for pot pies next week! Get your chicken sausages and ground turkey this week. More apples, cheeses and breads (as available) too.
WHEN IS THE LAST CSA PICKUP?
WEEK 20 is our goal, targeting Oct 8-10 or Oct 15-17. After that, we will take a little break and reopen to the public on a weekly basis Nov-Dec.
