It's the end of July! I simply cannot believe that. Summer, though it feels like it just began, has peaked for us, and the farm is beginning its transition into fall and winter farming. It is a strange time of year. Spring gets the attention, rightfully so, as being the mad crazy time for farmers, getting everything in the ground. However, it is actually this time of the year which is often the busiest. We have to begin seeding and planting fall crops, fertilizing, prepping beds, cover cropping, prepping and tarping fields for spring, etc. Oh, and we also are still picking and managing tomatoes, peppers, salad, carrots, beets, etc. It is when the busiest seasons overlap.
It is hard to think about in July, but as farmers, we have to be thinking months in advance. Thus, in these hot and humid days, I chose to be thinking of pulling those sweet, November carrots! Join me in thinking of Fall. It's nice :)
Happy week, all. See you soon!
