Admittedly, vegetable farming in the snow isn't the most fun ever, but that's okay. It doesn't happen very often here in Virginia, and everything we are harvesting this week is in our hoophouses. This does put a damper on the field work we'd like to get done, and the decreased sunlight slows down plant growth. But it's February, and things like this are to be expected.
A bit less expected is the opportunity to join in the Virginia Regenerative Agriculture Forum this week with us as members of the panel~! Watch two films before Thursday evening then join us and our fellow panelists for a virtual conversation: Thursday, Feb 4th from 6:30-8:00pm. We are honored to join our fellow panelists for this moderated Q&A about regenerative agriculture, based on two films: Kiss the Ground and Living Soil.
Register to participate in this FREE event here on Eventbrite. Organizers will email the Zoom link on Wednesday to registered participants.
In our humble farmer opinions, these are great films. We recommend watching Kiss the Ground first as it lays out the science behind farm-based carbon capture in a user-friendly way. The event is interactive with lots of time for Q & A, and you can submit questions ahead of time to richmondccl.cce@gmail.com or type them in during the event.
Back to our on-the-ground work: Farm Share options are the least abundant for the next month or so as we settle in this deepest part of the winter. We've reserved the harvest for you first, so take a peek at your options. Carrots and greens keep us nourished this time of year!
Looking ahead to the main 2021 season, we have just a few slots left in our Farm Share for certain pick up locations AND we have fantastic monthly "Add-On" options from our friends at Gathered Threads! Choose from the following options:
- Herbs for the Kitchen
- Herbs for Body and Soul
- Herbs for Tea & Wellness
- Culture Share (of fermented vegetables)
To add any of these to your May through November share, log in to Harvie, click on "Place Order" and scroll down to select from the "Add On" section.
Blessings on your meals, and KEEP ON masking up, washing your hands, and staying home whenever possible ~
