This email is your ticket to log in and customize your share. A lot of what we'll harvest for you tomorrow we started growing in February! (So THANK YOU for signing up in advance of the harvest!) You have a fantastic assortment of spring vegetables to choose from this week.
Heads up: Larger/slower growing spring crops (like cabbage and carrots) take longer to mature than the vegetables we are harvesting this week, so you'll see those show up as options in June or so. In our climate/growing zone, vegetables with seeds inside of them (botanically speaking these are fruits) are SUMMER crops. So, summer squash, tomatoes, eggplants, peppers, etc., are in the ground and growing, but they still a ways away from being ready to harvest. (Heads up: We do plant cucumbers in a heated greenhouse so we have
BREAD SHARE MEMBERS: **NEW** this season is your ability to choose your loaf variety here in the software. It shows up as a separate "SHARE" and you choose what type you want each week during the customization period. You'll receive a separate email (moments after this one) for you to customize your Bread Share. This is the first week we've used this configuration, so thank you in advance for your patience as we inevitably encounter some hiccups.
For Pick Up:
- Please remember to bring your own bags each week.
- At Self Serve locations: Our vegetables are in green plastic boxes at the pick up location, labelled with members' names. Find the box with your name on it. - Empty the vegetables into your bag and leave the empty, green box for us to collect.
- Loaves of bread, for those who have ordered one, will be near the green boxes, labeled with your name. Pick up your loaf if you are due one. (Some people have purchased a Bread Share for a loaf each week of the season. Some people order a loaf when they please.)
- Same for cooler(s) at pick up locations with any cold items that aren't vegetables (eggs, fermented vegetables, etc...See below for more info.)

- At Staffed locations: One of us will be there to quickly gather your items for you to bag up and bring home.

Payment:
As indicated during your sign up process, if you did not pay in full, here is the payment schedule:

- 25% of the total share cost was charged to your credit card when you signed up (or maybe you paid by check).
- 25% of the total share cost will be charged to your card on file the first day you pick up a share. (Harvie and Stripe credit card processing handle this...we don't have your credit card info)
- After that, 50% of the share cost remains due. That 50% is then divided evenly between the number of shares you have signed up for. That fraction is charged to your credit card on file each day that you have a share, plus the charge for any extras you order in any particular week.
- You are welcome to pay your remaining balance in full or pay a portion at any time with cash, check, or charge. Hand your farmers cash, mail your farmers a check, or log in to your account and click on My Profile -> Payment Details to make a one-time credit card payment.
Vacations:
If you will be gone and can't pick up a particular week's share you can reschedule that week's share for a different week in the Harvie software, or you can have a friend or family member pick up for you. Just forward this email to them so they know the details.
Vegetable Storage Tips: Get ready to take care of your produce! Storing them properly allows them to last longer in your fridge (or on your counter!), stay more crisp, and serve you best. Here’s what the pros do…
-> All GREENS and ROOTS need to be refrigerated in an AIR TIGHT bag or container to prevent going limp/wilty. Keep bagged greens in the bag in which we pack them.
-> ROOTS store best if you remove the tops and refrigerate them in a separate container or bag.
-> If you’re short on fridge space, you can also keep Peppers, Onions, Potatoes, Garlic, and Cucumbers (for a brief time) out of the fridge. (Though, our standard is to store Peppers & Cucumbers in the fridge. Just keep an eye on them. They’ll go bad after a time.)
-> Keep Tomatoes and Eggplants OUT of the fridge. (Eggplants have the shortest shelf life of anything we grow. Eat them soon after getting them from us.)

Extras: Each time you get an email for a week's telling you it's "Time to Customize Your Share..." you will have the option to swap items as well as order "Extras." Extras are one time, a la carte items that you have to order if and when you want them.
