We've hit that time of the summer we call "peak produce" when we have the widest selection available. Carrots, sweet corn, potatoes, onions, green beans, zucchini, kohlrabi and so much more is available and this year has proven to be a bounty thus far. I encourage you to use Harvie to swap things around in your share to craft the perfect share for you and your family. There will be lots of items listed under the "extras" section so that you have plenty of options available.
This past week you may have noticed we now have coffee available. We're really excited to be working with Clay and Eric from Beans Coffee Company of Mankato, MN. If you're not familiar, Clay and Eric started a coffee roasting business out of their garage about the same time we started our farm. We've been buying their coffee ever since and thought it would be great if we could add more local goods for you to add to your shares. We've started with three of their roasts including their cold press blend which is perfect for the summer heat, De Novo which is an all around crowd pleaser and Blue Bean which has this little hint of blue berry. We're sure you'll love it! These items are listed under the extras section and can be added to your shares for $12/bag.
We're also working on adding honey to our lineup. A neighboring beekeeper keeps several bee hives on our property. His bees help pollinate our crops and we've been enjoying the honey they produce for several years now. We love the idea that the bees that help pollinate our crops also create tasty honey and that it will be available to you. Look for it in the extras section of Harvie in the coming weeks.
I wrote last week that severe weather loomed and it looks like this Saturday is shaping up to be the same. We continue to hope that our farm will be spared from a devastating storm. As always, we'll keep you up to date via Harvie Farm Happenings, Facebook, Instagram and email.
