The farm has really moved into warp drive in the past week. We are sowing, planting, weeding, building trellises, hoeing and hand weeding, and harvesting an ever larger selection of crops. The frequent wet spells have been mostly beneficial for the crops, but a bit thwarting to the farmers. Wet soil does not work very well, so bed prep has been slowed and even when completed, the results are not optimal. Weed control is especially compromised by wet conditions. About the best we can manage is to push the emerging weeds around a bit, which puts them off their game for a day or two before they find their roots again and renew growth.

About the farm
Cedarville Farm is a mid sized mixed vegetable farm, cultivating gravelly and fertile soil near Nugent's Corner, 12 miles NE of Bellingham. We grow our crops organically, maintaining soil health with the use of animal, plant, and rock based fertilizers and cover crops. We offered the first CSA north of Seattle in 1992 and have never stopped packing boxes and loving this way of linking local consumers with local farms.
