The season changed in about 10 minutes this past Thursday when an intense storm sent us all running for shelter. The 65 mpg winds and intense rain ripped through the farm and sent everything flying including a couple trees and every harvest container that wasn't inside the barn. The temperature went from 93 to 71 during those few minutes and scores of local trees took out our power. It was all very exciting after we were sure everyone was safe. After about 30 hours our electricity came electricity back which meant we spent some quality time with our generators keeping the coolers running and water pumping. These fast intense storms like the one last October seem to be the new normal. I've made a note to add a new generator to the budget for the coming year.
