Week 8
Last week marked the end of our early season lettuce and greens bounty. With the warm weather we have moving into July, the leafy green produce we grow doesn't hold up well in the hot temperatures and starts to go to flower or show physiological symptoms of heat stress. We'll be moving more toward some of the summer staple crops and some of the other specialty crops we grow like various types of peppers, melons, zucchini, tomatoes, okra eggplant and more. Our greens harvesting will start back up in September when the temperatures cool off again.
Our harvest list this week includes:
- Basil
- Cucumber, Kirby and Regular
- Kale, various types
- Mini Artichokes
- Green Beans, various Heirloom types
- Cabbage, red and green
- Carrots, purple
- Sweet Onions
- Tropea Onions
- Fennel
- Shishito Peppers (limited quantities)
- Beets, red cylindrical (not the typical round) type
- Potatoes, red and gold varieties
- Kohlrabi
