D&V Organics CSA
Week 18
Last week's two days of rain really made a difference in the growth of our Fall vegetables. It's curious how we can provide adequate irrigation to our vegetable crops, but with a heavy dose of natural rainfall, the crops respond much more favorably. Unfortunately, our melons took a real hit from all the rain and as a result, we are seeing an excess of rotten melons and several exhibiting signs that they will go bad before they can be consumed; this marks the end of our melon season. We will continue to harvest tomatoes, but with Sunday and Monday's forecasted rain, the end is nearing on them as well. Our plans for the Fall include lots of greens and some root vegetables, so we are looking forward to changing our weekly menu a bit.
Enjoy,
Derek and Crew
