D&V Organics CSA
Week 6
A few more things are coming in this week for the CSA! We just began harvesting cucumbers in large numbers this past week, along with fennel, broccoli and standard cauliflower. With how dry it's been, our irrigation has been running for several hours each day for the past few weeks, hopefully we'll receive some significant rain this week on Monday. Most of our crops are happy with the consistent dry weather we've been having. With the dry, we can anticipate fewer plant diseases showing up, which is important for all of our Summer crops like tomatoes, cucumbers, melons, peppers, etc. In a wet season, soaking rains can do a lot of damage to tomato fruits, but the rain can also bring on plant diseases that limit the productivity of our crops. Even though we haven't received a considerable rain event in about a month, our ability to irrigate every day definitely gives us an advantage.
Enjoy,
Derek and Crew
