D&V Organics Fall CSA
Week 2
This time of year is a bit slower for us on the farm and usually the workload pressure decreases in the month of November, but this year's unseasonably warm temperatures has us busy as ever. Our last push of planting is now finished with our 2025 garlic crop planted and ready to grow until we harvest it in July next year. Ordinarily, we expect all of our crops to slow down and grow very slowly over the next couple months. Unfortunately, the warm temperatures speed all of the growth on our crops, forcing us to harvest things that, in a typically "cool" Fall, might keep in the field without becoming over-mature. Most Fall temperatures are reliably cool, but with a few days in the upper 70s, we have to be more vigilant in harvesting before things "expire" in the field. On the other hand, some items that we may have planted a little later than usual, and in a typically cool Fall might not reach maturity, just might reach maturity this year. Farming is always so dynamic and nearly impossible to predict what a given season might deliver us. Either way, we have another great week of excellent things coming out of our fields.
Enjoy,
Derek and Crew
