Greetings to everyone,
The photo above is taken while "The Produce Squad" is out transplanting tomatoes in mostly dust. We did receive a bit of rain, so, we went out on faith and transplanted tomatoes, peppers, tomatillos, many varieties of summer squash, cucumbers, ground cherries, a few pollinator flowers.
Our first week of Farm Share went off with a few glitches. Most were corrected. Again, I need to emphasis that there are NO FRIDAY deliveries at this time. We are short of staff. The Twin City area delivery day is WEDNESDAY. The Wisconsin delivery day is THURSDAY.
The first few weeks of our Farm Share is a bit tricky, especially when we had 3 weeks of frost, a week of rain followed by 90-100 degree days during the first part of planting season.
Most of the time you will receive vegetable products grown by DragSmith Farms or a local farmer in our neighborhood. It is difficult to be an expert on a large variety. Some years one crop does better than another. The too much or too little business. Sometimes, we reach out beyond the Wisconsin/Minnesota border for an organic product. This helps you as a consumer have more choices. We heard way to often that one problem with CSA boxes is that you get to much of one thing. Anyway, this allows us to ensure you that you will receive a box every week and we can offer a large variety of product. Also, we will soon be offering "add ons" that include bison, elk, maple syrup, honey etc.
Have a great week. Stay active and healthy. Come check out the farm. Visitors are always welcome.
