Happy Thanksgiving to you all. We wish you a happy day and warm moments shared with the ones you love.
This past week has been a bit strange. Unseasonably warm weather is much appreciated. The windy days we could do without. The plastic between Greenhouse 3 and 4 tried to take off. Gail managed to tape it together with a special greenhouse plastic tape. Course it had to be way up on the top. Tall ladders aren't a lot of fun when you are inside a greenhouse in a strong wind. Everything seems to be moving.
This weekend the old farmhouse changed into a deer hunting shack. Every year Gail's brothers, a brother want-to-be, and nephews show up for the big hunt. Everyone has a favorite spot to sit. Actually, it is a rather nice time to visit without so many other voices around. We have brunch together and supper. Since darkness dictates an early time to retire the day, we have time to catch up thoroughly or discuss the hunting events of the day. Gail usually makes some kind of unusual pancakes for brunch. Lemon pancakes were a repeat request this year. Sunday brunch was a German apple pancake, Mississippi greens for a salad and fried smelt. Had apples that needed to be used and the guys wanted to try smelt. The photo is 3 of them crossing the river with a nice 10-point old buck in the tractor bucket. He will be made into sausage because of the age.
As always have a great week. Enjoy Thanksgiving and it's time to appreciate what we have to eat and the blessings of family and friends.
