We have been working hard at turning over more of our greenhouse spaces this week! We tore out most of the cucumbers, topped all of the pepper plants (so they will ripen quickly and uniformly) and pulled a couple varieties of tomatoes.
Some of the fall crops we have seeded include spinach, radishes, turnips, lettuce, romaine, tatsoi and more!
We've been trying to harvest our sweet corn but the crows are getting at much of it. I will bring what I have with me on Wednesday so if you'd like some, bring some loonies/toonies or send me a message if you receive your veggies by home delivery. No guarantees I will have much though!
This week, there is Forman Farm garlic available! The variety is called "Music" and it's the same kind that we grow. The heads are much larger than the garlic we had available from our farm (since we are planting all of our large heads for next year's crop and therefore only gave out the small ones) The Forman Farm garlic is NOT ORGANIC!
Also this week there is Calendula First Aid Salve from Barking Root Botanicals. Calendula is an anti-inflammatory wound-healing herb, whose flowers are known to heal and nourish the skin with their antiseptic, anti-scarring properties that activate tissue regeneration and epithelial tissue development. Use calendula salve if you want to treat skin irritations and wounds with a topical product.
