Hello Farm Fans!
Welcome to a new year and a new decade! In case you haven't already heard, 2020 is the year of the "Yang Metal Rat". While this character might sound a little nefarious and edgy, the rat is actually a creature of exceptional taste who appreciates the finer things in life. And like this rodent of great character and esteem, we hope that this year brings you a bounty of tasty nuggets of joy! At least we know you will be covered in the produce category!
This week marks the beginning of a new chapter for our winter farm share! Farmer Ron from Pick'n & Grin'n is starting to harvest a more abundant variety of crops! His offerings this week include a great salad selection: buttercrunch lettuce, spinach, spring mix, and mizuna. Both Ron and Farmer Scott have started to harvest radishes! Pair those with Dayton Valley's tomatoes and cucumbers and you can craft a salad that will stand up to the most discerning of New Years Resolutions!
We are working our way through the last of the winter squash - so make sure to stock up if you are hoping for curried squash soup or a sweet squash pie before next winter! Also - Dayton Valley has ginger for sure this week so use those credits to stock up! The baby ginger has a 100% yield--no need to peel it before use.
Again - we hope you have a happy New Years Eve! I am going to do my best to avoid the 300,000 people expected on the Las Vegas Strip tomorrow night--secluding myself in my off-strip time-share cooking black-eyed peas and some kale that I packed down in my bag from Fallon.
Cheers!
Kelli
