Farm Happenings for July 13, 2021

Posted on July 10th, 2021 by Stephanie Bradshaw

Week 10

Important Reminder:  Our Summer season will end the last week of July, however, we plan to add at least one additional week in August - and possibly two, since we anticipate the melons and many other things will still be coming in!  At that time, we will take a break between our Summer and Fall seasons.  Our Fall season will not start until the last week of September.  There will be no regular deliveries after the second week of August until the last week of September.

The tomatoes are a coming in heavy this week!  We are giving you a choice between our hybrid tomatoes, which are the nice red slicing tomatoes - or our heirloom tomatoes, which are beautiful colors from a dark purple-red to yellow and orange.  The heirlooms are an uglier shaped tomato, but you cannot beat the taste!  Try them both!! You will notice that some of our sweet corn has been topped (cut off) when you receive it.  Unfortunately, organic corn is not treated with any pesticides or chemicals - nor do we use treated seeds, so the compromise would be that the bugs love our corn too!  We try to use beneficial bugs to help combat the bad bugs, but we don't have this down to an exact science.  You may have some imperfect looking corn, but we hope that you joined our CSA because you were wanting to support a small local farm that is dedicated to growing food the way it was meant to be grown....without making compromises and without the use of harmful chemicals and pesticides.  Please excuse the topped off corn, we trying our best to not send any corn your way that may have a hitchhiker, but we know that we are not always successful!  :o

We will also have some canning tomatoes available for anyone that is interested in putting some tomatoes up for winter.  The box of canners is approximately 15lbs and will be $25.

We are thankful for your continued support and are dedicated to growing the most nutrient dense produce available in middle Tennessee.  Our goal is to feed your family like it were our own!  We love you all and appreciate all the incredible encouragement you give us each week!  In the meantime, please keep praying for rain!  We are still way behind in rain and could use several good soakings!  May the Lord be glorified in all that we grow!
