This week we're sending out the first of our Arugula. The plant family known as Brassicaceae is more commonly know as the mustard family, and flea beetles happen to be especially fond of them. We prefer to wait until their populations naturally die back late July before planting many of our mustard crops.
Last week we were able to plant lots of napa cabbages along with black and watermelon radishes. This week you'll get the first of our arugula, our tender early fall kale, and not far behind are the red radishes to add some zing to your salads.
In the picture above you can see Adreana and Marina planting the Napa, the water wheel transplanter uses little metal v shaped spikes to make a little hole in the ground, fill it with water, and then we just tuck the seedling into the puddle!
