Farm Happenings at Fiddlehead Farm

My grandmother found a "what's available when" guide to fresh fruits and vegetables from the 1970s, and it is a series of graphs by crop showing the balance between domestic and imported goods to meet demand. The seasonality of many crops is the same even today, from beans and beets to squash and s1 read more »

Success story
New things are always exciting, and often intimidating too. We're so glad we've been able to feed you these past three months, thank you so much for joining us for the ride! It has given us the opportunity to learn more about greenhouse production, veggie storage, and helped give our staff some shi1 read more »
Busy times
What does a farmers' week look like? We celebrated the rainy moments, worked through the July heat, and relished in the cool the last couple of days. I've had some amazing reactions as I tuck lettuce heads on porches, you should give it a try ;) s1 read more »
Walking days
I'm so glad the weather has warmed to help everyone go for (socially distant) walks! The birds and frogs at the farm are singing up a storm, and there's a calm that comes with that - they have no idea we're all busy isolating. I found the garlic growing in all it's springtime glory yesterday mornin1 read more »
First seeds of summer are planted
We're really lucky that this time of year we can run the farm in voluntary isolation easily - we don't usually have veggies going out, or staff coming in. We're busy wrapping up office work and starting in the greenhouse. Our onions and tomatoes are officially started (photo of Valerie who lives wi1 read more »
