Farm Happenings for December 5th, 2022

Posted on December 5th, 2022 by Kelly Peters

Happy December! We hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. It sure looks like winter around the farm these last couple of days. Luckily, it gives us more incentive to stay inside and work on our farm preserving and creating of edible goodies.

Do you miss the farm fresh goodies?!? Good news- We’ve got our farm fridge stocked with hot sauce and veggies as they’re available. Right now there’s winter squash, garlic, cauliflower, hot sauce, kohlrabi, radicchio, baby carrots, shiitake mushrooms, and potatoes available.

The farm fridge is self service and can be found under the white carport in the parking lot on left of farm entrance. The glass door fridge has a scan code for you to pay with Venmo or CashApp (or if you prefer to pay with cash/card let us know!).   Keep an eye out on our social media for updates on what's fresh in the farm fridge!

We will be participating in the last Vancouver Farmers Market of the season on Saturday, December 17th from 10 am to 2 pm.  The market is off Ester Short Park and 7-8th Street in Downtown Vancouver.  We will be selling lots of goodies made with farm products that can be gifted or enjoyed by the family.

Our newest farm product is BLACK GARLIC!

Black garlic is just regular garlic put through a fermentation process. (No, it doesn’t grow this way!!!)

The garlic is kept at a specific temperature and humidity until the beneficial bacteria convert the amino acids and sugars. Aka Maillard reaction. This can take anywhere from 2-6 weeks depending on your process.

It tastes like sweet, caramelized garlic and has tons of benefits for health.
We plan to make infused vinegar & oils, aioli & spices with ours (as well as eating lots of it fresh!)

We'll also have a new batch of hot sauce, chili salts, herb and garlic salts, garlic infused honey, lavender goodies, bath salts, and more!  Come grab some locally made and locally grown gifts.

Thank you again for all of your support and we hope that you have a wonderful holiday season and great rest of the year!

Warmest wishes from your farmers,

Kelly & Patrick
