Happy fall everyone!
Pumpkins are turning, and there will be a pie pumpkin for everyone! They are not quite ready, so maybe next week, but definitely something to look forward to! We will have a pumpkin patch weekends starting October 17th, until Halloween, or we are sold out of pumpkins. Troy will be making his delicious apple cider doughnut holes, the store will be open with veggies and extras from our partners Mushroom Logs, Creekside Soaps with fall themed soaps, Four Cedars Honey, and more! CSA members receive 10% off all purchases.
Carrots are in everyone's shares again this week! The full sized carrots took a while to get here, but they were worth waiting for. We say goodbye to lettuces as of this week. I have a bed of young romaine that may produce by our last week, but it is hard to predict with the fall slow down of growth. Cabbages replace the lettuces for fall, this week we will have the cone shaped Caraflex or the round Passat. Both very sweet. Larger and later cabbages are near harvest size, so they await perhaps next week.
We hope to have a Thanksgiving share for you, as a gift after our last CSA week (October 21st). If the weather cooperates and brings us no really hard frosts, we will have a small share for your Thanksgiving table. Our latest Cabbage, Deadon, usually ripens in November, as does the Brussel Sprouts. These along with any extra root vegetables we have will make up your Thanksgiving shares. I will email each of you with what is in the share, and we will need confirmation that you would like the share. We plan to have it ready the Wednesday and Thursday the week before Thanksgiving. It will not be a customizable harvest as it will be a mini harvest.
As always, thank you for supporting us in farming. Our mission is to provide healthy food for our family and yours. We could not do this without your support of local organic agriculture!
Have a wonderful week.
