The weather continued to confuse us this week, but at least the cooler nights came back to give us some relief. It's extremely dry out here and we could really use some rain. It's preventing us from seeding our winter cover crops because without enough soil moisture, the seeds won't germinate. We did start harvesting sweet potatoes which was very exciting! They're getting nice and sweet curing for a couple of weeks and then they'll be in your CSA boxes. And we had fun last Monday at the Days of Taste annual fundraiser: Farm to Chef Maryland. We got to taste our vegetables in delicious ways along with other tasty local meats, cheeses and fruits. It supports a great cause, and we'd highly recommend it to anyone who loves eating local food! Check it out in 2020 if that sounds like you.

About the farm
Good Dog Farm is a 25-acre vegetable farm in Upperco, Maryland. We are a Certified Naturally Grown farm and use beyond organic growing practices. By farming with the health of our land and customers as our guide, we ensure you the highest quality and safest produce. We use sustainable growing practices to protect our soil and waterways. We supply our customers in the Baltimore and DC regions with delicious, nutritious food that’s always fresh.
We founded the farm in June of 2016. We grow vegetables year-round thanks to our two high tunnels. Our farm provides a diversity of crops for our Community Supported Agriculture program plus wholesale quantities of unique varieties of storage crops like potatoes, winter squash and sweet potatoes.
Our name comes from our shared love of our three dogs, who remind us to live simply and have fun every day.
