Wow, what a temperature roller coaster this week! We slept with the air conditioning on on Wednesday night and turned on our heated floor this morning (thanks to our landlord for that luxury!) We finally finished bringing in all of our potatoes and winter squash, which has been a months long project. It's all stored away safe and sound out of the chillier temperatures, waiting to be eaten throughout the winter. We also seeded our first few beds in one of our high tunnels so that we'll have plenty of salad greens through late December. Chillier temperatures don't seem quite as intimidating when we know there will be plenty of delicious food for months to come! We hope you enjoy all that the season has to offer this week, including beets and carrots now listed!
Farm Happenings for October 9, 2019
About the farm
Good Dog Farm is a 25-acre vegetable farm in Upperco, Maryland. We are a Certified Naturally Grown farm and use beyond organic growing practices. By farming with the health of our land and customers as our guide, we ensure you the highest quality and safest produce. We use sustainable growing practices to protect our soil and waterways. We supply our customers in the Baltimore and DC regions with delicious, nutritious food that’s always fresh.
We founded the farm in June of 2016. We grow vegetables year-round thanks to our two high tunnels. Our farm provides a diversity of crops for our Community Supported Agriculture program plus wholesale quantities of unique varieties of storage crops like potatoes, winter squash and sweet potatoes.
Our name comes from our shared love of our three dogs, who remind us to live simply and have fun every day.
