Fall really hit us this week! We were able to get cover crops in the ground with the little bit of rain that we got, so hopefully they'll be up and growing very soon. That way our soil will stay put over the winter and we'll be adding nutrients and organic matter back to it. We also took down more of our tunnel plants so that we can seed our winter crops in there. Sweet potatoes hit CSA boxes this week and we're so excited to share them with you! And make sure to check your Harvie account to see if you're scheduled to receive a box the week of Thanksgiving (11/25 - 11/29). All deliveries that week have been moved to Tuesday 11/26! You can reschedule your box if a Tuesday pick up won't work for you, but we hope we can share our vegetable bounty with your families and friends this Thanksgiving.
Farm Happenings for October 16, 2019
About the farm
Good Dog Farm is a 25-acre vegetable farm in Upperco, Maryland. We are a Certified Naturally Grown farm and use beyond organic growing practices. By farming with the health of our land and customers as our guide, we ensure you the highest quality and safest produce. We use sustainable growing practices to protect our soil and waterways. We supply our customers in the Baltimore and DC regions with delicious, nutritious food that’s always fresh.
We founded the farm in June of 2016. We grow vegetables year-round thanks to our two high tunnels. Our farm provides a diversity of crops for our Community Supported Agriculture program plus wholesale quantities of unique varieties of storage crops like potatoes, winter squash and sweet potatoes.
Our name comes from our shared love of our three dogs, who remind us to live simply and have fun every day.
