Welcome to the first Gravel Road Farm vegetable box of 2021. We are excited to bring you a specially curated box of our produce and products from other local farms we love supporting. This week we are offering: baby lettuce mix from Purslane Farm, asparagus from Pheasant Hill, honey from Dancing Bear Apiary and Maple Syrup from Eisentraut Syrup.
The biggest thing on our minds right now is lack of rain! So far, we have seen less than 1/4inch total in the last two weeks. We have been scrambling to get things planted and irrigated at the same time. We have a deep well, and a lot of water pressure, so the plants are looking good, for now. Less rain also means less weeds, the silver lining.
This farm newsletter can be accessed on our Harvie page so that you can go back and re-read anything.
Important information you need to know:
For Weekly shares, the first box will be on June 15th, AND EVERY TUESDAY until October 12th (18 boxes)
Bi-Weekly shares will be every other week starting on June 15th or June 22nd and continuing for 9 boxes every other week. If you do not know what week you are on, please email us, call or text, brigid@gravelroadfarm.com, 715-281-0812.
PICK UP: TUESDAYS 3-7PM. Under the tent in the front yard of the farmhouse. (Normally we will have the boxes on the front porch, but our house is getting a much needed paint job.) Please pull up and park to the side of the driveway so that other CSA members can pull up as well. Your vegetables will be packed in a reusable wooden crate. Your last name will be on the crate. Take the plastic bag with your items and leave the wooden crate.
DELIVERY: Delivery will be completed by 3:30pm on TUESDAYS
Your last name will be on the crate. Take your items and plastic liner bag. Leave the empty crate to be picked up next week.
If you will be unable to pick up your produce, please arrange to have someone pick it up for you, or let us know if you would like to donate it to the food bank. All boxes not picked up by 7pm at the farm, or drop sites become the property of the stop host/farmers.
We know you are busy! That is why we are doing your gardening for you!
But we think our CSA subscribers should have a chance to see the farm up close and personal. Each CSA family is welcome to contact me and get a tour of the farm this summer. We are best available on Wednesdays but other times would work too.
There is a lot to see and learn from our business and we have a golf cart for easy access for about 4-5 people. Your tour could include: petting the sheep, picking vegetables or flowers, bird watching, or garden lessons. Call or text (715-281-0812) or email brigid@gravelroadfarm.com
