The summer heat is finally here. We do get some positives from it in terms of helping things grow, it just increases our need for watering. The field crew has been busy this past week getting the big reel irrigator going to water all the sweet corn. We pull it out around 1500 feet out and it sprays water 150 ft in a semi circle as it pulls back in. It is certainly pretty neat to see it working. We are hoping to have sweet corn ready for next weeks shares and after that we will have it for the remaining duration of the season. Tomatoes are starting to kick back up this week so we will have plenty of those for shares. We are also picking the first sweet and hot banana peppers from the field this week as another new item in shares. Cantaloupe look like they will be ready probably next week so we will have those as well. This kind of weather is absolutely perfect for cantaloupe to be super sweet so we are excited about those as well.
Our second Farm to Table dinner is Friday night so Chef Patterson is taking this week off of baking but we will have something good next week.
Hope everyone enjoyed the Fourth of July weekend.
Have a great week and if you have any questions or concerns feel free to let me know.
