This is us. Pictured is our Harvie Farms Pittsburgh staff in front of our warehouse space in the Upper Lawrenceville neighborhood of the city. It's not often we get to see each other without masks on. Inside the building we work hard to use safe practices including masks. But it was fun to step out into the cool October air and take a few pictures to capture the faces of the folks who work hard to connect our farmers with our customers via our farm share boxes.
REMINDERS We will be sending out an email with more details on the winter farm share options (the season will start the week of December 8). Please watch for the email as it will hopefully answer most your questions about the coming change of farm share seasons. Also, a thank you and reminder to keep returning your flattened cardboard boxes along with the insulated liners and ice packs. We appreciate your participation in this effort to reduce and reuse our packaging.
TURKEYS We are excited to announce that we will have over 100 pasture raised turkeys available for Thanksgiving from Clarion River Organics. They will be frozen and distributed the week before Thanksgiving with the last round of deliveries for the current farm share season. Stay tuned for the opportunity to purchase these as well. We anticipate having them available for pre-order in early November. We will have multiple sizes to choose from.
CHEESE SHARE Ivory Lace from Lori and Rex at Hidden Hills Dairy. "A havarti style cheese, smooth and mellow. Pair it with fruit or round out a sandwich. Two thumbs up from our daughter!"
NEW PRODUCE ITEMS Now that we're into October, you're getting a small taste of some of the storage crops we will have into the winter. The gold ball turnips are one of these wonderful items. They may not look like much, but they are quite delicious. Not overpowering in flavor, the taste is fresh and pleasant. Napa cabbage also makes a new appearance this week. A great item for all things October when it comes to cooking. And of course, butternut squash--perhaps the most beloved of all Autumn season veggies.
We can't tell you enough times how much we appreciate your feedback and support. Stay safe and eat well!
