Happy Fava's Day -Whole Season Share #4

Posted on June 14th, 2024 by Lisa Duff

Happy Fava's Day!

Not just for Dads, fava beans are here for the whole family.

WE are harvesting such an amazing abundance of flavors and colors this week.

Snow peas, kohlrabi, greenhouse cucumbers, all manner of summer squash, the first of the cherry tomatoes, lush greens..the farm is flourishing.

We are also seeing the summer pests taking hold. Colorado potato beetles on the potato plants, striped cucumber beetles and squash bugs on the cucurbits, the white cabbage looper moths are fluttering about and harlequin beetles are showing themselves on the broccoli and cabbage plants.

But this week we want you to think fava beans. These seasonal treasures won't last long. The summer squash will be here for a good while.

Check out this blog on what to do with fava beans, why they're good for you and a little bit about my dad.

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!
