Happy Summer Solstice. Whole Season Share #5

Posted on June 20th, 2024 by Lisa Duff

Happy Summer, officially.

Summer Solstice is June 21st, the longest day of the year.

Please note on your calendar now: no CSA share Tuesday July 2nd or Saturday July 6th for OSF vacation.

Stock up on extras for next week's delivery to get you through the July 4th weekend! We've got your salad and grilling needs covered.

The bounty is coming on strong....I know it's a weird time for us to take a break but we've been CSAing all year.

And Dawn, our pack shed manager needs some time off due to hand surgery.

Plus the crew needs time to harvest and cure our amazing garlic crop and get fall crops planted.

Yep, we have to think about Fall now in order to feed you through November.

And it's my birthday next weekend so I'm heading to the beach for a few days ;)

I love this time of year.

Remember to get on the Farm-ily Facebook page and check in by posting some of your tips and tricks for making the most of this week's bountiful CSA share.

Please note the farm's week off is July 1-6th.

No customization email Friday June 28th.

NO CSA the week of JULY 1st-6th.

Remember if you have a vacation coming up plan ahead and reschedule your share now. Double up the week before or the week after your vacation.

Storage tip of the week:  If in doubt: keep it in a plastic bag. Fava beans have a fairly long shelf life so don't worry if you don't use them up right away. Eat your peas and green beans right up.  Give them cold water soak if they get a little soft or sauté them.
