Dear Members,
I recently received a beautiful card from a market customer/winter member who was thanking us for growing the food we grew this season for her and her family. I can't tell you how warm and fuzzy that card made me feel. She called it her "annual love letter to the farm".
As we wrap up this season (in a hurry I might add) I want to make sure that you all know just how much we love you! Okay, I know love is a big word. But we mean it! Growing food for people is a rewarding job and growing it for people who enjoy it is even better.
Without your support, our farm would not exist. About 75% of our total income is from our share program. That's a big chunk of the pie when you are talking about a small business. Of course most of that income goes back to the direct expenses of growing the veggies: seed, soil, fuel, labor, storage and more labor. But that income also allows us to improve the share experience for our members by investing in exciting software like Harvie. It also helps us pay fair wages to a VERY hard working crew which helps them return season after season. That means skilled labor and knowledgeable people making your shares the best they can be, season after season.
So in case you need to hear it again...we love you! Thank you for being a member this season. Many of you will be auto renewing on Friday. So many, that on opening day of share sign up we will already be 50% filled! If you are not auto renewing for one reason or another (we totally understand if you are not!) but still plan to sign up at a later date, you won't want to wait too long. We anticipate being filled up earlier than ever before. For the last 2 seasons we have sold out by mid-May.
So bundle up and stay warm this winter and when you are feeling lonely, just read this love letter and know that you are VERY important to us. And that your decision to support a local farm is a mighty smart choice. You should be very proud of yourself :)
