Alright, I know we wanted rain so I can't complain too much. But 10 inches?! We are slowly drying out at the farm and overall things are good. I should mention that it has been the shortest tomato season for us ever. They ripened all at once and then the rains came and brought major disease. So long story short, tomatoes are almost finished for the season already. That is about 2-3 weeks earlier than previous seasons. Our plantings of fall spinach, arugula, radishes, pac choi, lettuce and fall peas are either not in the ground yet (rains came before their planting date and now it's too wet) or are in the ground and now rotting. At this point in the season, time is running out. If we can't plant soon there won't be enough time for those things to make it before frosts of late October come. BUT those are only a few crops. We have a lot of things already in the ground that are looking GREAT and we anticipate a bountiful final third of the season! Leeks, carrots, beets, peppers, celery, onions, broccoli, garlic, cabbage, just to name a few.
Until next thyme,
Robyn
