OK, hello winter! We were not expecting the freezing temperatures that arrived Monday and Tuesday nights, and neither were our plants! Some of them we will have to say goodbye to, but hopefully most will be fine, maybe with a bit of frost bite. We're still planting and seeding, even as the cold and dark settle in to our region. Things keep growing here through the winter (barring a deep freeze), just a lot slower.
This week we're bringing you lots of green heads - cabbage and bok choy are looking sharp! We're also flush with carrots and radishes, plus plenty of Compostella's delightful salad greens. Check out the extras section for fresh baby ginger and turmeric, from Certified Naturally Grown Too Tall Farm.
A couple notes: Our community fridge is seeing a lot of action these days. If you have extra stuff in your kitchen that you can contribute, please consider bringing something with you when you to come to pick up your share at the farm. There's a big need for accessible food and we can all play a part.
We are also collecting blanket, tent, and clothing donations for Southern Solidarity through December at our farm. Please look at their Instagram post for details on what to bring.
Lastly, please note, this is our third to last share for this season! We'll take a couple weeks off through the holidays, and will most likely start up again in mid-January. If you are currently signed up for a share, you will be auto-renewed for the spring season. Feel free to opt-out through your account if you don't want to continue receiving your farm share.
Have a great weekend and see you Tuesday!
