Farm Happenings at River Queen Greens
Greens for the Holidays
Sometimes we lose track of the calendar, but a little birdie told me that this weekend is Easter. So, we're excited for our greens to be on your Easter and Passover tables this weekend, or just on your regular tables! We here for all of it.
We'll be putting together a great share for you, wit1 read more »
Peas and Thank You
It's finally pea season! After losing multiple plantings to the freeze last month, we're finally swimming in some of my favorite crops: sugar snap peas and snow peas. It's been a wild ride, including a record amount of rainfall this month (6" on Tuesday!) but they're here at last, and we're excited1 read more »
Another wet and wild weather event?
We had an amazing weekend hosting superstar farmer Ellen Polishuk for a series of Louisiana veggie grower workshops at our farm. It was so fun seeing all the people who showed up and nerding out about growing veggies. It can be isolating working at a farm, so it's very special to be able to get us1 read more »
Louisiana Farmer Power this Weekend
This is an exciting weekend for Louisiana farmers for a couple reasons:
1) Food and agricultural workers (that's us!) are finally eligible for the Covid vaccine! We've been de-prioritized repeatedly over the last month as other criteria have been pushed up, but it's our turn now. Yay!

New Palestinian Pop-up Starts Saturday!

Loubiya is a brand new pop-up making Palestinian comfort food that looks and sounds absolutely delicious. We can't wait to try it, and1 read more »

The Last Lost Line (and Hot Sauce!)
The moment we've been dreading is nigh - friend of the farm and onigirazu maker extraordinaire, Colin from the Lost Line, is packing up his sushi rice and fancy knives and moving to Portland. This will be the last week to get his onigirazu in our share, and, tear, his last pop-up at the farm will b1 read more »
Hot Sauce is Back!
This is a big week here at the farm. Why? Because our delicious, super special hot sauce is back! Cheryl's parents are back in town and they spent a rainy day this past week cranking out hot sauce with our frozen hot peppers from this summer. These aren't your grandma's Crystal hot sauce either. Fog Season
Even with the dense fog every morning, the warm weather this last week has kicked everything into gear. We're slowly starting to see signs of abundant life at our farms, though who knows if this next cold snap will put a damper on things.
This week, we're excited to welcome back Compostella's baby1 read more »
