This is an exciting weekend for Louisiana farmers for a couple reasons:
1) Food and agricultural workers (that's us!) are finally eligible for the Covid vaccine! We've been de-prioritized repeatedly over the last month as other criteria have been pushed up, but it's our turn now. Yay!
2) LSU AgCenter has brought sustainable ag star farmer Ellen Polishuk (pictured on a field walk with our crew this morning) to town for a series of workshops that are being hosted at our west bank farm. There are three workshops taking place Friday, Saturday, and Sunday: one for Ag extension agents to learn more about why sustainable farming is something they should care about, one for beginning farmers, and one for experienced farmers. Ellen is a well-known veggie farmer and consultant in the world of sustainable ag, and we've had the opportunity to work with her before in her consulting capacity. It's a pleasure to be able to host her and many other farmers from the region at the farm this weekend!
And why is this an exciting weekend for you, dear reader? Because we've got a slamming share for you on Tuesday! Lots of fun greens (including the return of Compostella arugula and beautiful lettuces grown in the Bywater), peas, beets, and more. We're adding quarts (instead of pints) of strawberries from Faust Farm, which means it's a higher price, but more berries! Eggs, mushrooms, jams, tofu, ginger and turmeric, and more can also be found in the extras section.
Have a safe and happy weekend.
