Wow week #8 is here! Last week gave me and some of the crops the ability to catch up.
Last week wasn't without trouble and concern though. I had a major hail storm basically sit over the top of the farm for more than 40 minutes and rain down pea and quarter sized hail all over the veggies. The beet greens, swiss chard, green beans, and onions were the hardest hit of the crops. I'll have to let them recover and other plantings catch up to them.
It also torn a ton of holes in the insect netting protecting the zucchini and summer squash....
This recent heat is also causing some issues...I hate the heat............
I am starting to harvest cucumbers, summer squash, and noticed some of the cherry tomatoes are turning. None of the slicing tomatoes have turned yet though....
Summer crops are what a lot of you are waiting for!
This week some of you'll notice these in your deliveries and as the weeks move forward hopefully I'll be supplying more and more!
I am also starting to transition from salad mix to head lettuce so that will add variety.
One special crop coming out is Kohlrabi! Many of you may have no idea what it is or how to use it, but it is tasty! Check the recipes for ideas and share anything that you come up with on your own.
I hope you enjoy your weekly share
Thanks!
